Sister's Prayer
I wanted to get my way, and held my breath to prove a point. As the darkness came to me, I also took a breath, but resolved not to. So I felt my body drop to the floor, yet I rose and hovered at the ceiling. I saw my sister and mother place me on the bed and felt a tug.

At Birth
My experience happened during childbirth. My baby weighed 4.2 kg. He was in the wrong position during labour and got stuck; he was a forceps delivery. At the moment of his birth when he was pulled from me, I felt that everything was being pulled from me, from my neck down -- my heart, my lungs etc. It was the most terrible feeling.

Watching Over Me
When I was 19, I was a sophomore in college and had one illness after the other. I lived in a dormitory so strept throat, etc. was common. I developed a bad cough that was common when seasons change with my exercise induced asthma and was using my inhaler to no avail. Finally I called my doctor and made an appointment. He told me I had an infection in my lungs after x-rays as well as Bronchitis. He gave me a stronger antibiotic than I was taking from the school infirmary and sent me back to college.

Three Accounts
Tachycardia. I was in graduate school at the time and had just turned in all of my work to finish up this summer class. My heart failed at about 4 a.m. on a Friday. I awoke briefly at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, then again at 7 a.m. When I initially woke up, I thought "somebody must be very sick because mom, sister and brother were all there." My first thoughts were confusion because I didn't know what had happened. As my mind began to return, I felt incredible fear, because somehow I knew that I had been somewhere and lest I want to wind up in "WARD C," I had better keep my mouth shut.

Unborn
I was resting comfortably in bed with my eyes closed. I felt particularly tired and depressed. As I drifted in and out of light sleep, I began to feel unusually light and free. Suddenly, I popped out of my body through my head and began floating above the bed. This experience felt entirely normal to me. But I must say that it took me a few moments to adjust.
