‘Coming Home’ Call for Essay Proposals

Coming Home is a documentary film series that shares the stories of people transformed by near-death experiences (NDEs).

Founded by Jesse and Eliot Estrin, Coming Home has published 22 documentaries to a growing viewership of over 275,000 subscribers with 29 million total views.

The Coming Home Substack marks the next phase of this journey, serving as a platform reaching over 20,000 email subscribers where near-death experiencers, scholars, and scientists can share their work on NDEs with one another and the public.

We are interested in publishing content related to NDEs and consciousness studies, including:

  • Philosophical and metaphysical implications of NDEs
  • Scientific research on NDEs and consciousness
  • Autobiographical accounts of NDEs
  • Historical and cultural perspectives on NDEs
  • Spiritual and religious interpretations of NDEs
  • Transformative effects of NDEs on individuals and society
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to studying NDEs and consciousness
  • The relationship between NDEs and psychedelics

By curating important scholarship and research, Coming Home aims to bring these phenomena to a broader audience and facilitate greater conversations around religion, spirituality, history, consciousness, anthropology, psychology, science, and medicine.
