Near-Death Experiences and Suicide: Implications for Healthcare and Humanity
The topic of suicide—already infused with deep existential emotions and questions—becomes even more compelling when a suicide attempt survivor reports they’ve had a near-death existence. So many questions arise about death, as well as about meaning and purpose in life. These are the topics we’ll be exploring at the 2026 IANDS Spring Symposium, an online event on Saturday, April 25th 2026.
The 2026 IANDS Spring Symposium focuses on the intersection of near-death experiences and suicide, with attention to clinical, ethical, and human considerations. Presentations will examine existing research, clinical observations, and implications for healthcare practice, education, and compassionate care.
This symposium is intended for professionals who provide medical healthcare, mental healthcare, and spiritual/religious healthcare—as well as for researchers, educators, students, and the general public with an interest in the subject matter. We hope you’ll attend IANDS Spring Symposium 2026 online on Saturday, April 25th and we look forward to meeting you there.
Sensitivity Notice: This symposium includes discussions regarding suicide and related experiences. Attendees should consider their own sensitivity to these topics and determine for themselves if these discussions may be challenging or triggering for them. Anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts should contact their country’s telephone helpline. People in the U.S. can dial 988.
