After having been diagnosed with ALS, Paul Gralen decides to seek out legal methods of ending his own life. And this sends his wife, Beth Orr, on an incredibly moving journey to learn about shared death experiences with SDE expert William Peter. All so they can have a conscious and loving end-of life experience.
We’ll be watching Suffering Into Gold on August 27th at 7:30 PM during IANDS Conference 2025. Following the short film, the panel will discuss the pain and meaning of losing loved ones and their shared belief that consciousness survives death. And William Peters will also offer his perspective on the transformative impact of SDEs and other end-of-life experiences.
Suffering Into Gold was named an official selection at the Utah Arts Fear No Film Festival. It earned an Award of Excellence from the Best Shorts Competition. And it also won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the 2025 Illuminate Film Festival.
Suffering Into Gold won’t be the only film showcased during IANDS Conference 2025. We’re also looking forward to the premier of the new Raymond Moody documentary by celebrated filmmaker Paul Perry.
