Jerry Gin to speak at South Bay IANDS meeting, April 23, 2019 7:00 pm (PDT)
On January 28, 1986, 17 million Americans witnessed the launch and explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle and within 1 hour of the explosion, 85% of Americans had heard about the disaster. All 7 astronauts, including Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher in space, had died in this national tragedy. NASA and the media reported that no one survived the explosion. However, Jeanne Love, in Adrian, Michigan, channeled a hysterical Christa McAuliffe and learned the real story. In subsequent days and months, all 7 astronauts told their stories to both Jeanne and Regina Ochoa, Jeanne’s close friend. The astronaut stories, as they experienced their “life” after death, were documented in recordings which were transcribed for the next 2 years.
The main message the astronauts wanted to communicate to the world was: “life continues after death and that life is eternal”. The key question was how to accomplish this mission. Tom, Jeanne’s husband, a physicist, knew about the Foundation for Mind-Being Research (FMBR) and knew one of the physicists on the FMBR Board. Contact with FMBR was made. After 30 years, FMBR has finally honored the request of the Challenger astronauts to get their message out in a website ( https://challengercc.org/ ) - there is no death and life is eternal.

Austin IANDS Chapter In The News
An article in the Austin American Statesman from September 1, 2014 describes the near-death experiences of Pat Johnson while he was kayaking on the Blanco River. Johnson was with a friend when the kayak tipped over and he was trapped underwater for a number of minutes. During this time Johnson had a near-death experience where he saw light streaming through a stained-glass window and he was surrounded by "multitudes of souls". He felt overwhelming love, forgiveness and peace.
When he was revived, Johnson searched for answers and found IANDS. His experience drew him to help others who had similar experiences, and he now leads the Central Texas Chapter of IANDS in Austin.

Taiwanese Center Embraces NDEs
In mid-June, the Chou Ta-kuan Cultural and Educational Foundation sponsored an information and educational meeting to encourage Taiwanese people who have had Near-Death Experiences to come forward and share their experiences. Established in 2002, this center has encouraged the recognition and awareness of NDEs in Taiwan.
According to Lin Keng-hsin, a psychiatrist at the center, people who experience NDEs "began to love life and nature passionately, and suddenly adopted simple diets, respected the environment, took to helping people, advocated environmental protection and put a higher priority on their spiritual sides."

Esquire article on Eben Alexander distorts the facts
Commentary by NDE researcher Robert Mays - revised August 21, 2013
Luke Dittrich, contributing editor at Esquire, wrote an article critical of Dr. Eben Alexander's book Proof of Heaven. Dittrich cited several malpractice lawsuits against Dr. Alexander, in some of which the allegation was that Alexander had altered medical records to cover his errors. Dittrich makes this his theme for critiquing the story of Alexander's NDE, that Alexander altered the facts of his story to make them more dramatic. In particular, Dittrich questioned the central premise of the book, that Alexander's experience was the result of a brain all but destroyed by meningitis. Alexander's hyper-real experience of the heavenly Gateway Realm with the beautiful girl on the butterfly wing and the knowledge he gained from The Core, were all hallucinations resulting from a medically induced coma. Alexander thereby stood to gain financially. But how careful was Luke Dittrich with the facts he presented? (PDF: Full article)

Week Long News Segment on NDEs
In 1962, Nancy Clark was in the midst of a difficult childbirth when she left her body and found herself in the presence of a soothing and calming light. Nancy has since become a group leader for an IANDS group in Ohio.
This story and other stories of near death experiences are being featured in a week long segment on Cleveland's Fox 8 News. You can see stories of Nancy's NDE and Howard Storm's distressing NDE by watching Fox 8 or viewing the videos of the segments on the Fox 8 website. Archive of all stories.

Did Edgar Cayce have an NDE?
Edgar Cayce's life was punctuated with remarkable experiences. He spent years fascinating the public and producing thousands of recorded cases of readings and healings. Cayce would enter an altered state and communicate with non-physical entities who spoke through him providing information and guidance. His talents and abilities are legendary, and now there is evidence that Cayce had an NDE while a child.
Neil Helm, Scholar in Residence at Atlantic University at the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach has found evidence in the archives that Edgar Cayce drown and was pronounced dead at the age of 5. He was revived but kept his experience a secret for many years. Helm writes about this experience and his exploration of the Cayce Vault in the April through June Issue of Venture Inward in the article Did Edgar Cayce have a Near Death Experience (pp. 44-46).
