I had just turned 18 and was excited to be able to donate blood, as I thought it was my duty as a human being to do so.

I planned to donate as often as possible because, in all honesty, I remember thinking, it's no big deal and no great loss to myself and would be a great help to someone in need.

My father drove me and on the way home, we had to stop at the veterinarians' office to pick up medication for my elderly dog. My father asked me to run in for it but he parked at the end of a long uphill driveway and I had to walk up the hill to enter the office. By the time I reached the office I was aware that it probably wasn't a good idea to have exerted myself in that way. I was feeling a bit confused and dizzy and sat down in a chair by the door. The attendant was a long time acquaintance of the family, and as I was telling him I had just donated blood and wasn't feeling very well, I noticed my father (probably realizing it wasn't a good idea to send me up that hill alone) parking the car outside the door.

Then I saw dad approaching the door and the next thing I saw was a beam of light surrounding me and I was descending below the floor. I looked up and about 30 feet above my head was me sitting in the chair and I saw my head fall back and then I saw my father enter through the door. It didn't strike me as strange to know that I was in two places at the same time; in fact, I never even considered I could be dead or dying. I stood there with a beam of light surrounding me, with total darkness outside of that beam extending to infinity. I don't know how I knew this, but I knew it was true.

I felt a sense of panic and thought to myself, "How did I get here? I have to find a way out." Just as I was about to step out of the beam of light a hand touched my right shoulder (I now know it was my angel) and a voice said to me, "Don't move out of the light or you will never leave this place." I looked and in the darkness, I could see millions of people who seemed illuminated. The darkness was palpable and encompassing but the souls could be seen. They were all milling around and I could hear moans and cries accompanied by a great feeling of sorrow, utter grief. I saw some just sitting bent legged on the ground as if they had given up searching for the exit and one woman, in particular, saw me where no others did. She approached me and got very close to my face. She didn't speak but telepathically relayed a desperate plea for help. I can still see her face.

It seemed like I was there for a long time watching the people milling around. The next thing I remember is being back in the chair and I thought my father was shaking me so I snapped at him to stop shaking me, but it was really the tail end of a convulsion. My father's face was white with fear. I thought at first I was in purgatory, but I now know I was in an upper level of hell where there is no hope.
