September 2 - 4, 2011 at the Millennium Hotel in Durham, NC

Proposal submission deadline: April 15

With the theme, Lives Changed Forever: Perspectives from Experiencers, Science, and Spirituality, the 2011 conference will focus on the aftereffects of near-death experiences. This year is our 30th birthday, so the conference will also celebrate a Happy 30th Birthday to IANDS!

Near-death experiences (NDEs) are profound experiences many people have when they come close to death. About 80% of NDErs report aftereffects that are wide-ranging and profound: their lives are changed forever.

Experiencers return not only with a renewed zest for life and a more spiritual outlook, they evidence specific psychological and physiological differences on a scale never before faced by them. This is true of child experiencers and teenagers, as well as adults.

We are seeking papers on this theme from the perspectives of NDErs themselves as well as scientific research and spirituality.

Conference Objectives:

  1. Promote disclosure, description and classification of the aftereffects associated with NDEs and related experiences.
  2. Compare and contrast insights from the transformative effects of the NDE as viewed from experiencer, scientific and/or spiritual perspectives.
  3. Discuss research on the aftereffects of NDE and related experiences.
  4. Identify practices that may support the NDEr in integrating an experience from multiple perspectives.

To submit a conference presentation proposal, download the following documents. Using the EXAMPLE file as a guide, fill out the Conference Proposal Form and email, fax or mail it to the IANDS Office.
